We have moved and it seems every sentence starts with the word “Where’s”
Where’s my brush, where’s my deodorant, where’s my knickers. My toothbrush ran out of juice and for the life of me I could not find the damn charger.
I thought I had everything sorted well enough for easy access. I packed in 3 categories. Long term storage (longer than 6 months) Short term storage (Items we could get by without for a short period, up to 2 months) and items we needed for day-to-day living.
We are still a few months away from competing the renovations at Burpengary so have stored everything except for our bed, the fridge, microwave, electric hot plate, a few plates cups ect and washing machine. I’m living out of a suitcase on the floor.
The tiler completed waterproofing and tiling the main bathroom, toilet and laundry. MM will put the bathroom vanity unit in and the toilet. We have decided that rather than installing a free-standing laundry tub, we’ll use a cabinet-maker to build a cabinet which will incorporate the tub, space for a front loading washing machine, large draws and a bench-top which can be either removed or put on hinges or rollers to enable use of a top loading washing machine. Then it’s on to the ensuite which we will completely gut.
The kitchen is almost finished. I’ve stalled on the bench-top, still not deciding if I want the splash-back to be the same as the bench-top which will be stone or to introduce a third element and have a glass splash-back. I will spend some time over the Easter long weekend looking on-line and bouncing ideas around. I have to make a choice and sourced a couple of suppliers by Tuesday morning. I’ll arrange some quotes on Tuesday and book the supply and install as soon as I get the quotes in.
We have power but waiting for Telstra to connect the phone, internet and (yay) Foxtel. We initially phoned Optus to have the phone and internet connected at Burpengary a month ago. They checked their computer and said that would be fine and booked the job in, giving us a works order number and date of installation and advising us the tech would arrive between 8am and 12pm. At 1pm MM called Optus asking where the tech was. “Oh, there are no more free ports in that area, we can’t supply you a service” was the reply. Nice one Optus… your service is extraordinary. MM blasted the Optus “customer service operator” (cough) and phoned Telstra who checked their system and assured him connection was not an issue for them. They also have a great deal bundle for Phone/Broadband and Foxtel so we have them coming next week to hook us up. In the meantime, I’m using an old Vodafone pocket WiFi we keep as a back up and use when we travel within Australia to access the internet.
Chi has settled in nicely and she is enjoying having some juicy, meaty bones to gnaw on. I couldn’t give her bones in the apartment because she would go and bury them under a cushion. Now she can have it outside and bury it in the garden, which she has done and now guarding day and night.
