Ritual repetat

Power Plant Men

I have mentioned many times that he was my carpooling buddy. I have called him my Power Plant Brother. I have explained many of his characteristics in other posts, but I have never really formally introduced you to the only person that would answer the Walkie Talkie radio and the gray phone with “Hubbard Here!”

There are a couple of reasons why I have waited until now I suppose. One of the reasons is that I have two very terrific stories about Scott and I that I will be telling next year, as they…

From a Distance

Great post Kristin love watching fireworks they are amazing!

I’m not so much into crowds, preferring to observe from a distance. Events and festivals are great places for photographic material but I like to get in and get out.

I can see Brisbane City from where I live in Woody Point, Queensland, Australia. These pictures were taken recently of the Brisbane City Riverfire Event, part of the Brisbane Festival held annually.

Brisbane Festival emerged from the Warana Festival, which had been running since 1961.

Warana’s theme was ‘entertainment for the people, by the people’, and included a drama festival and eisteddfod, a writers’ week, a George Street Colonial Fair, a Miss Warana Pageant and various religious, sporting and other outdoors activities.

It was a much-loved festival, but the city had aspirations for something more sophisticated after the 1988 Expo, and by the mid-1990s it was clear that the city needed a new approach. In 1996, the Queensland Government and…
